one large blizzard (I'm not talking DQ ice cream)

This is what our backyard looked like yesterday afternoon.

And here we are 28 hours later.

My parents were scheduled to fly back to NC today but are re-booked for tomorrow.  School closed for the girls today but they head back tomorrow (2 hr delay).  It's still snowing and blowing pretty hard at 9pm, so I'm guessing the snow plows will have a busy early morning if the roads are going to get cleared.

Matt has a bit of work to do getting the driveway blown too.  (Dad says he is excited to help.... I'm assuming he means excited to help with the snow blower, not help with the snow shovel!)

I'm not sure what the snowfall totals will be, but our yard has drifts several feet high. We also have a large dry spot of concrete in the driveway.  The wind certainly does create interesting snowscapes.

The wind also whips so fast and so harsh.... ugh.  We were out around lunch time (before the roads got too messy) and the little boys hate the wind-whipped snow in the face feeling.  Can't blame them. And I realized (again) that the faster you want to load the minivan, the slower you actually load it :)  There's nothing like snow swirling and whirling into all corners of the van to make you count every second the door is open!

The girls are hoping to take Grandmama and Granddaddy sledding before school tomorrow :)  We shall see....

I'm guessing a DQ blizzard might be more appreciated at this point!
